Mida Creek off Mombasa Malindi Road Creek KE, Mida, Kenya
The Mida Ecocamp has been created with private donations as a means of assisting the people in a small Kenyan community to help themselves.
It is important for everyone to have the right to medical help, schooling and food. Unfortunately, 2000 people in Mida Creek are currently missing these things.
Mida Ecocamp is a registered charity in Germany and is financed by Hilfswerk. We believe that education is the key to development so we have prioritised it in our work, particularly with students at our school in Mida.
Additionally, working on the camp will provide jobs for the people of our village and help support local agriculture. We are also training local tour guides and opening a market for villagers. Lastly, it will help conserve the environment by providing sustainable energy options.
If you’re looking for a great spot away from the crowds, our platform restaurant offers scenic views of the Arabuko-Sokoke Forest and mangrove coast. You’ll even have a chance to see some amazing birdlife!
If you like to cook with some traditional local flavors, keep in mind that the Giriama people prepare their food on two fires. They also have different types of food and drinks for you to try.
Unique huts and a small campsite with secluded pitches.
From the camp, we can take canoe trips to the nearby island or to the well-known Gedi ruins.
For example, there are Giriama dancers and drummers who can be booked for a performance.
